Math News
The students have been learning about two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. The students have been counting faces, edges, and vertices on the three- dimensional shapes. On Friday, they used pattern blocks to show equal parts of shapes-fractions. At one math station, the students were building some symmetrical pictures.
Poetry Celebration
The students have been working hard the last few weeks writing poetry. After editing their favorite poems, they designed and decorate a cover for their poetry books. The students shared their books with our class and Mr. Jobst's class. I'm so proud of their hard work!

Geometry
The students have been learning about two-dimensional shapes. Of course, the students know circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares. They learned about hexagons, pentagons, parallelograms, and trapezoids. The students also learned that rectangles, squares, and trapezoids are quadrilaterals because they have 4 sides and 4 angles. Next week, they'll learn about three-dimensional shapes. At the math work stations, the students LOVE Time and Money Kaboom! Another math station is all about multiplication. The tangram pictures are quite challenging and some students love the challenge.
