Literacy Festival - Author and Illustrator Jeff Weigel

OThe students are learning from another author and illustrator! He wrote Atomic Ace books and Dragon Girl. He taught the students about character design and how it fits with his stories. The students helped create their own super hero. They named him Gadget Boy.

Literacy Festival - Visit with a Writer/Illustrator

The students are enjoying time with illustrator Dan Killeen. He illustrated the book Tillie and Clementine Noises in The Night. He showed us several other books he illustrated and we're so impressed! Your child might just want to be an illustrator when he/she grows up! Right now, the students are enjoying his book called Derrick and the Dinosaurs and it features places around St. Louis like the City Museum, The Arch and more.

Geometry

We just started our last math chapter on geometry. Today we learned about 2 dimensional shapes. Some new shapes we talked about were pentagon, hexagon, rhombus and parellogram. At one of our math stations, the students worked on some Tangram Puzzles. They are tough and with a little help or support, everyone completed a puzzle.
