Two Digit Subtraction
We've been working on subtracting two digit numbers with regrouping. The students are working hard and doing great. We started out using the unifix cubes to model regrouping and now the students are able to subtract without the unifix cubes. Check out your child's graded math papers as they might need a little more practice this weekend.

Writing About Books!
The students have been writing letters about books. We've been reading, writing and talking about book characters. Mercy Watson is just one of the funny characters we've been talking about the past few days. We think Mercy is a funny pig because he has his own bed, in his own room. Mercy loves buttered toast too. Students have been telling their opinion about different book character and why they have that opinion. It's fun reading all the letters and learning more about good books.

Subtraction Fun
On Thursday, the students had fun playing a math game. They rolled two dice and subtracted the smaller number from the larger number to find the difference. Then they colored the difference on their pumpkin. Lots of fun practicing fact fluency.

Opinion Writing
Today the students wrote about their favorite part of Halloween or their favorite part of school. Once they stated their opinion, they were supposed to give two reasons to support their opinion. Here are a few sample papers.
