Math - Addition Strategies

The students have been learning and practicing the different addition strategies.  We've talked about "counting on" in which they put the big number in their head and count on.  The students have been practicing the "doubles" facts and the "doubles +1" facts too.  They've been playing a game called "Tartget 10" so they can quickly know what number combinations make a 10.  We've practiced adding 3 numbers too.  I taught them to look for the double or the 10 or any two numbers they know automatically and then count on.  Today, we practiced drawing a picture to solve a word problem.  We'll be reviewing next week and we'll have our chapter test on Tuesday, Oct. 8th.
